Gyrolift Research Project

(LISV Laboratory, University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines)

Research and innovation at the service of people

The Gyrolift is an innovative locomotion device, intended for people with a motor deficiency or an apprehension that alters their ability to move. The Gyrolift allows mobility in a seated or upright position.

Result of a UVSQ and Handipode association project, sponsored by ERDF, Gyrolift is an innovative locomotion device. This project was supported by the Cooperation Foundation scientist from the Paris Saclay Campus within the framework of the call for projects Prematuration.

The Gyrolift aims to offer an attractive alternative to the traditional wheelchair, to promote mobility with autonomy and independence and to save energy in the upper limbs, usually used for moving the wheelchair. It helps to increase social participation in the daily activities, to improve the access and retention in employment in the workplace and to envisage more varied and rewarding career paths.

The Gyrolift allows mobility in a seated or upright position. Verticalization offers therapeutic and psychological interests thanks to a greater number of professional, recreational and sports activities. Verticalization diffuses an indisputable psychological impact by sending back a more rewarding social image. It improves blood circulation and it can reach places beyond the reach of a conventional wheelchair.
