Consortium

The TALSO project, of the FUI22 call for projects (2016-2020), brings together a consortium composed of three manufacturers ( ISP System project leader, AMPLITUDE and CILAS), a laboratory, the LISV, and an association (Alphanov).  It has been labeled by three competitiveness clusters (Aerospace Valley, Moveo et La route des lasers ).

Scientific Objectives

This project aims to develop a laser sintering process and industrial means for the assembly of high thermal conductivity optical power components.

The process developed during the TALSO project is derived from a new process undergoing feasibility assessment for power electronics. It is based on the laser sintering of metallic nanoparticles with oxalate precursors. ISP System, which develops the process and industrialization tools for electronic applications, will be in charge of developing the process for optical applications for other industrial partners. ALPHANOV is in charge of the design of a new laser, and the LISV laboratory in charge of modeling in order to improve the understanding of the sintering phenomenon.

The project will result in a validated laser sintering machine and qualified processes on test vehicles provided by end-users.

We expect a technological leap of 25 in the thermal conductivity of the seal with better flexibility inducing less constraint due to thermal cycles and perfect control of the TALSO process.

Impacts on application fields

If successful, the TALSO project will offer a high-performance assembly process allowing the creation of new optical architectures essential to enable the ramp-up of future lasers. The impact on the Aquitaine laser industry will be strong.
