The Kinect for Xbox 360 was launched by Microsoft as the first 3D sensor, it designed to capture motion of players in order to play without a controller, and this not its only use as this device open outlooks for a wide range of applications in the robotic fields including objects recognition and tracking, 3D environment mapping, distance detection, or voice recognition and control. In my project I analyzed its different features, its limits and the way to install it in Windows 64 bits and 32 bits, adapting it to Matlab/Simulink in order to embed it on a Quadrotor in order to get its position and orientation.
